A Most Unusual Design, 2024

A series of unique, hand pulled screen prints.

These prints are based on my visit to the "Boomerang" Office Building for JC Johnson designed by Dutch Architect Huig Maaskant. Mijdrecht, Netherlands.

Designed by the architectural firm Maaskant, Van Dommelen, Kroos and Senf in the early 1960s, Europlant’s administration wing is a stunning concrete sculpture, flying above an ornamental pond. A Johnson newsletter in 1966 described it as one of the most arresting business architectural designs in Holland at the time. “Light reflecting from ripples on the pool plays constantly on the structure, giving the effect of a shimmering fabric. The glass walls reflect the sky and surrounding countryside in an ever changing pattern of light and shadow.”
