I start my day with drawing. It is something which grounds me, a meditative process; I like to think of it as thinking through action. The physicality of moving the graphite across the page often brings me into a state of flow where it is all about the mark making. I start with a shadow shape from one of the institutional buildings which inspire my work and from this I form a new structure. As I work everything else disappears and I am lost in the act and craft of drawing as I gently encourage a sculptural image to emerge from the page…
